This bill establishes the “Wage Protection Act.” The bill revises the current provisions of section 10 of P.L.1999, c.90 (C.2C:40A-2), to strengthen enforcement procedures and criminal sanctions against employers who fail to pay wages, compensation or benefits to their employees. The bill imposes criminal sanctions against employers who retaliate against employees who file complaints under the statute and establishes definitions of key terms and phrases found in the statute.
